In 2005, the Mass DEP designated officially, the mouth of the coastal rivers in Massachusetts. Swansea has 3 coastal rivers, the Cole(s), the Lee, and a small un-named river which enters Mount Hope Bay near the "duck pond" off of Pearse Road.  South of the line desigating the river mouth is Mount Hope Bay.
