SWANSEA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Civilian Dispatch Position
The Swansea Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for Civilian part time dispatch positions, these positions may lead to a full time appointment.

Candidate must be able to work in a stressful environment, be an effective communicator and have excellent multi-tasking skills. The position requires processing incoming and outgoing emergency and non-emergency telephone calls and coordinating communications with the Police Department and other public safety agencies ensuring policy, procedures and goals are met. Hours of work include all three shifts, weekends and Holidays in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement.

Minimum Qualifications:
APCO PST1 and NG911 preferred, IMC systems experience preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills; High School graduate or GED; Public safety dispatching experience preferred; working knowledge of computer aided dispatch and radio operations; working knowledge of the streets and Town of Swansea preferred; Shift to be assigned, weekends and holidays will be required.
