The Town of Swansea invites qualified applicants to submit competitive proposals to provide Project Management services overseeing the Design Phase of two new municipal structures: a conjoined Town Hall and Council on Aging and a Highway/DPW Facility. The Town of Swansea is seeking proposals for the disposition of town-owned property, located on TAFT AVENUE, Swansea, MA, Assessor’s Map 80 Lot 59. Bid documents are available by emailing procurement@swanseama.gov . Sealed proposals shall be submitted in hand or via mail delivery in an envelope clearly marked “DISPOSITION OF PROPERTY – TAFT AVENUE, SWANSEA” to Mallory E. Aronstein, Town Administrator, Swansea Town Hall, 81 Main Street, Swansea, MA 02777 by 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Bids submitted through electronic mail or fax will not be considered.
The property will be awarded to the highest bidder. The property has an assessed value of $150,000 according to a current appraisal paid for by the Town. The property is known to be a buildable lot, is .64 acres and is a rectangular lot with frontage on Taft Avenue. Minimum bid of $125,000 required. A deposit of 5% of the bid must be provided at time of bid. The Town will retain the bid deposit in the event the highest bidder fails to execute a Purchase and Sale Agreement. Deposits will be returned upon final agreement of the highest bidder.

The awarding of the property will go to the highest bidder. The property has an assessed value of $113,800 according to town documents. The property is known to be wetlands and not a buildable lot. A deposit of 10% of the bid must be provided at time of bid. The Town will retain the bid deposit in the event the highest bidder fails to execute a Purchase and Sale Agreement. Deposits will be returned upon final agreement of the highest bidder.
All proposals submitted in response to this RFP shall remain firm for sixty (60) days following the submittal deadline. It is anticipated that the Purchase & Sale Agreement will be executed within thirty (30) days after the submittal deadline. The Town of Swansea may cancel this RFP or reject in whole or in part any and all proposals, if they determine that cancellation or rejection serves the best interest of the Town of Swansea.
September 12, 2022 POLICE STATION DEMOLITION AND HAZARDOUS MATERIAL ABATEMENT - Awarded to Pasquazzi Bros, Cranston, RI
In accordance with MGL Chapter 149, the Town of Swansea is inviting bids from qualified companies for the demolition and hazardous materials abatement of the former Police Station Building located at 101 Gardeners Neck Road, Swansea, MA 02777. The building is a single story brick veneer structure with full basement, occupying 4,065 square feet and contains asbestos containing materials (ACM) and other hazardous materials to be removed prior to demolition. Interested parties are invited to submit sealed bids in accordance with the bid documents, available electronically by emailing procurement@swanseama.gov . Bidders must be certified by MADLS as licensed asbestos contractor. A 50% payment bond must be provided at time of execution of contract. Prevailing wage rates apply.
Sealed bids will be accepted until Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. and will be publicly opened forthwith at the Swansea Town Hall. Bids must be clearly labeled “POLICE STATION DEMOLITION” on the envelope and are to be delivered via mail or hand delivery by the bid opening date to the Town Administrator’s Office, 81 Main Street, Swansea, MA 02777. The Town of Swansea may cancel this IFB or reject in whole or in part any and all bids if cancellation or rejection is in the best interest of the Town. Bid award will go to lowest responsible and eligible bidder.
Pursuant to MGL Chapter 30B, the Town of Swansea seeks bids from qualified vendors to design a site plan for Medeiros Farm, 1100 Bark Street, a conservation restricted property acquired for active recreation, ballfields, and trails. The Town of Swansea, through its Conservation Commission, purchased land at 1100 Bark Street, referenced as Medeiros Farm, with Community Preservation Funds for recreational use. The Town intends to utilize the property for recreation via trails, ballfields, and other recreational uses for public enjoyment. The parcel currently has structures on it, only a few of which will remain for storage and potential bathrooms. Otherwise, the parcel is vacant land previously utilized for farming.

Pursuant to MGL Chapter 30 Section 39M, the Town of Swansea seeks bids from qualified vendors for resurfacing and repair of four existing tennis courts and one existing basketball court at the Swansea Veterans Memorial Park, 90 Milford Road, Swansea, MA. Bids must be submitted in hand or by mail delivery to Town Administrator’s Office, 81 Main Street, Swansea, MA 02777 no later than August 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., at which time they will be publicly opened and read. The Town of Swansea seeks competitive proposals from interested designers under MGL Chapter 7C Section 44 to perform a Feasibility Study for new and/or renovated or expanded fire station facilities. Proposals must include site and facility assessments of four current stations to determine current conditions, short and long term needs. Questions are due in writing by June 29, 2022 by 4:00 p.m. Town shall pay a fee not to exceed $150,000. Final fee to be negotiated between selected firm and Selection Committee. Fee shall be inclusive of all reimbursable and out of pocket costs.
