Marriage License (how to apply).
dovesMarriage License Information:
Hours during which applications for a marriage license are taken in the Town Clerk's Office as follows:
Monday -        8:00 am to 4:00 pm 
Tuesday -       8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Wednesday - 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Thursday -      8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Friday -           8:00 am to 12:30 pm
NO APPLICATION WILL BE TAKEN BEFORE OR AFTER THESE HOURS.
REQUIREMENTS TO COMPLETE AN APPLICATION:
  1. Application fee is $25.00 - payable by check or cash - no credit cards.
  2. Both parties must be present and have proper identification. 
  3. There is a 3-day mandatory hold on the license before issuance, unless a Court Waiver is applied for.  **See below.
  4. Once the Notice of Intention is filed, the license must be used within 60 days; and the completed license must be returned to Town Clerk's Office no later than the 10th day of the month following the marriage, i.e. a marriage solemnized on December 28th, must be returned by January 10th.
  5. If either party is divorced, the divorce must be finalized.
  6. Applicants need to know the date of marriage, who is performing the ceremony and where the ceremony will be held.
  7. The clergy who will be performing the ceremony, either MA resident or Out-of-State, must be registered with the MA Secretary of State's Office or have a commission to legally perform a marriage ceremony in Massachusetts.
  8. After the marriage is performed, certified copies may be obtained from the Clerk's Office, either in person or by mail; the fee for a certified copy of the marriage license is $10.00
** COURT WAIVER 
1st Step: Couple files Marriage Intention with Town Clerk’s Office. ($25.00)
2nd Step: Couple obtains a True Copy Attested of their Notice of Intention of Marriage. ($10.00)
3rd Step:  Couple applies at either:  Fall River Court House, Probate-3rd floor, 289 Rock Street, Fall River, MA 02720  (phone:  508-672-1751) or Superior/District Court House, Clerk of Courts Office, 189 South Main Street, Fall River, MA  02720  (phone: 508-491-3300)
Couples must present to the Clerk of Courts: (1) Personal ID's - (2) Court Application - found online at: https://www.mass.gov/doc/marriage-without-delaymarriage-of-minors/download - (3)  True-Copy Attest of the Notice of Intention of Marriage - (4)  Fee amount of $195.00 (only cash, money order, debit or credit cards accepted – no personal checks.
4th Step:  Once waiver is obtained, return to the Town Clerk's Office to have marriage license issued.
